Jack Holland

September 13, 1930 — June 10, 2010

Jack Hollander Sr.
Our Father, Jack Holland Sr., went to join our anxiously waiting mother in the arms of our heavenly savior on Thursday, June 10, 2010. He passed quietly in his sleep after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his family, friends, Gods love, and the spring flowers in the home he loved.
At last...There is peace and pain no more.
He was born on September 13, 1930, to Henry and Winnie Holland in Eilav, Texas. One of three children. On March 7, 1958, he married Dorothy Leona Norton in Texarkana, Texas, and they proceeded to raise a family. They moved to Winston, Oregon, in 1961, and lived in the same home until our mother passed in 2002. Dad moved to Roseburg in 2005, to be closer to his friends, church, and doctors. He also said "The big house is just too much to take care of"
Dad loved gardening with an unmatched passion. He had a gift and could grow anything, anywhere. He also loved to travel and see new things and meet new people. If he was your friend, you had a friend for life.
He had many friends who will miss him dearly. His "K-Mart Buddies" and "Doughnut Friends". The "Sizzler Gang" and a wonderful church family at the Wilbur United Methodist Church. Apologies for those we've missed or just don't even know of (He got around.)
Dad was preceded in death by his father, Henry Holland; mother and step-father, Winnie and Foster Hancock; brother, Paul Holland and loving wife, Dorothy Leona Holland.
He is survived by his sister, Mildred Shores in Stuttgart, Arkansas; nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law; children, Jack Holland Jr. (Teresa), Danny Holland (Trish), Delita Noland (Steve); grandchildren, Jack Holland III (Jennifer), Danielle Bledsaw (Ryan), Tabitha Rutherford (Robert), Damon Holland (Katie), Tiffany Noland (Jason), Rebecca Holland, Natasha Tognoni (Domingo); great-grandchildren, Ashton Holland, Gabriel Holland, Taylor Holland, Deegan Bledsaw; Jax Bledsaw, Julian Tognoni, Anaiz Tognoni , Dylin Graves.
Special long-time family friend, Ray Wisner, many close friends. Midge and Wally Ericson, Jim Cuttler, Jim and Carmen Little, Marla Hauser, Pastor, Glen Clark, Bill and Burt, Steve and Charlene. Barb and Benny and, I'm sure there's more....
Our Father wrote this for Mom.
It seems to fit again. In tears we saw you sinking And watched you fade away Our hearts were really breaking, But we could not make you stay. God watched as you suffered, He knew you had you share. He tenderly closed your eyes and took you in his care. Our hearts still ache with sadness And secret tears still flow What it meant to lose you Only God will know. To the place of rest we wander Where we say a little prayer. No one knows the heart ache As we turn and leave you there.
A celebration of life will be held at the Wilbur United Methodist Church 757 North Bank Rd. Wilbur, Oregon, on Monday, June 21, 2010, at 1 p.m. A potluck will follow.
In lieu of arrangements, live plants or donations to the Community Cancer Center or Amedisys Hospice.
A special thank you to Darlene, his hospice nurse for all that you did.
