Jack was born in Headley, Texas to Lawrence and Jimmie Ruth Snodgrass. He graduated from High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 17 years of age and immediately joined the Navy. He was assigned to the Navy's Armed Guard Unit sailing on Merchant Marine ships. They protected the delivery of supplies and troops in the South Pacific during World War II. While in the service his family relocated to Albany, California. He returned there and received a degree from Golden Gate Business College. While in Albany he met and married Evelyn Ann McCully.

His first position was at California Steel Co. In 1955 he moved his wife and two daughters to Portland, Oregon to take a position at Georgia Pacific Corp. Three years later he moved the family to Roseburg, Oregon to accept a position at Roseburg Lumber Company. He finished his career there as CFO after 32 years of service. He was part owner of Kenco Leasing Company in Tualatin for several years.

Jack spent his retirement years serving on several boards including Douglas Community Foundation, Ford Family Foundation, and was instrumental in raising funds for the Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center. Jack and Evelyn spent many happy years traveling to Hawaii for extended stays to play golf and socialize with friends from across the country.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn; daughters Kathy (Jim) and Karen (Brian) and grandchildren Ryan, Todd, Grant, Collin and Kelsey (Brennan).

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Jimmie Ruth and his sister, Billie Jean Bell.

A memorial service will be held at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses on November 20 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the Roseburg Country Club.
