Jackie Morton

February 20, 1934 — December 30, 2010

Jacqueline Dashney Morton, 76, of Roseburg passed away on December 30, 2010. Jackie was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Arnold Morton, her sons Kirk and Rob, daughters-in-law Jo and Margaret, and six grandchildren Emmett, Anna, Caroline, Clark, Lucas, and Walter.
Jackie's warm smile, friendly manner, and generous nature resulted in many lifelong friendships which she cherished greatly.
Jackie was born February 20, 1934 in Coos Bay, Oregon. She was the only child of Duncan and May Dashney. She graduated as the valedictorian of Marshfield High School in 1952 and then obtained her Bachelor's degree in Business Education from Oregon State College in 1956 where she was a distinguished student. She taught at UCC for 21 years and served as the chairperson of the business department for two years.
Jackie was an active member her church and community. She was a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Roseburg. She was a member and one-time president of the Roseburg chapter of Altrusa International and also served on the Douglas County Library and Sunrise International boards.
She was an Oregonian to her core. She loved hiking along the North Umpqua, spending time on her native Oregon coast, picking fresh berries, and rooting for the Beavers.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 8 at the First Presbyterian Church in Roseburg. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Alzheimer's Association or the local Altrusa Foundation.
