James Howard Fowler

May 11, 1927 — September 10, 2013

Age 86, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in a local care center. He was born May 11, 1927 in Maxwell, California to William H. and Lucille M. Fowler. James received his nickname because he had curly red hair. He attended school in Concord, California. James quit school to join the US Navy serving in Guam as a Seabee during WW II. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for the Division of Forestry for 30 years. James and Patricia moved from Sutter Creek, California to the Roseburg area in 1992. Curly enjoyed hunting, fishing and cattle ranching. He was a member of the VFW and the VFW Cooties. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Patricia R. Fowler; daughters: Bonnie Fowler and Juanita Cobb; sons: James R. Fowler and his wife Lynn and Thomas W. Fowler; grandchildren: Travis Fowler; Jason Fischer; Jerimi Fowler; Rebecca Cobb and Jerry (Moose) Cobb; great-grandchildren: Trevor Fowler; Kai Cordaro; Austin Fowler; Wainohia Fernandez; Sophia Fowler; Jackson Cobb; Hayden Boehme and Jacoby Cobb. James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Eugene Fowler and George Furtado. At the request of Curly, no service will be held.
