James A "Jim" Collins

December 4, 1935 — February 26, 2015

James A. Collins, Age 79, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at home in Roseburg, Oregon. Graveside services will be held March 9, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Roseburg National Cemetery. Mr. Collins was born in 1935, to Blanche and Harry Collins in Ocate, New Mexico. He was married to Barbara Varga in 1957, in Reno, Nevada, who survives.
Mr. Collins served with Marine Corps in Korea. Later he trained to be a pilot, commercial pilot, flight instructor, and aircraft mechanic. He then moved to Roseburg and sold tools for 20 years, and worked at Bayliner until retirement.
The family will miss him greatly, sharing his hobby of old cars and airplane collections, hunting, fishing, and just enjoying grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all had a special place in his heart.
Survivors beside his wife include sons Randy Collins and Rick Collins; and sister Alice Pruitt; grandchildren Stacey Collins, Rory Collins, Corey Huffman, Amy Zerback, Shauna Collins and Brent Collins; ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son Steven Collins on October 29, 2014; parents Blanche and Harry Collins; brothers Wade and Earl Collins; sisters Rosie Gibson, Ruth Coppage and Zola Dykes.
