JAMES "JIM" WAYNE O'DELL 74 of Lookingglass, Oregon passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his home. He was born June 3, 1939 in East Moline, Illinois, the youngest of three sons, to Merle M. and Sarah M. O'Dell. Jim graduated from Oakland, High School in Oakland, Oregon. He served in the US Marine Corps at the rank of Corporal from 1958 through 1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jim has lived in California, Oregon and Montana before settling in Lookingglass in 1972. He worked at Roseburg Lumber as a grader until he retired after 27 years. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends especially with his best friend Larry Leonard. He also enjoyed watching pro golf, football and basketball and helping with the Lookingglass Little League. Survivors include his daughter Paula J. O'Dell of Humble, Texas; son Cody Wayne O'Dell of Albany, Oregon; grandchildren Rochelle Woodward of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cassie O'Dell and Emily O'Dell both of Albany, Oregon; great granddaughter Rae Perez of Albany, Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Merle Jr. and Darrell (Digger) O'Dell. A celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Private cremation rites have been held. The family would like to thank the caregivers and nurses with Mercy Hospice.
