JAMES RICHARD ROBERTS (November 3, 1940 - June 3, 2008)
James "Richard" Roberts, 67, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away June 3, 2008 in a local hospital. He was born November 3, 1940 in Stringtown, Oklahoma to Sally Ethel (Rains) and Wesley Melton Roberts. He met and married Ethel Louise Walthall in his hometown in Oklahoma and moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1964 where he worked at Sun Studs for many years until he retired. They were married for 47 years and raised two sons and one daughter.
He loved to spend his time fishing, hunting & watching his children, and later two of his grandsons, race motocross at various tracks on the west coast. He also enjoyed working on anything with an engine and was definitely the handyman of the family. He enjoyed watching old western movies and spending as much time as possible with his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and although he may not have talked a lot, when he did we listened because it was usually something very important or really funny.
He is survived by his wife Ethel, son Wes Roberts, his wife Kathy and grandchildren Kelsey and Kyle; son Stan Roberts and grandchildren Meghan, Shayla and Chad; daughter Becky Naylor, her husband Tracy and grandson Austin, all of Roseburg.
He is also survived by one brother, John Roberts and wife Louise of Stringtown, Oklahoma; sisters Geneva Sexton of McAlester, Oklahoma; Helen Galyean and husband Sam of Madill, Oklahoma; Fannie Westbrook of McAlester, Oklahoma; Pat Roberts of Roseburg, Oregon; Geane Kellogg and husband Billy Guy of Daisy, Oklahoma; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Sally "Ethel" and Wesley M Roberts; brother Danny Roberts and a sister, June Hudson, all of Stringtown, Oklahoma.
A private family memorial is planned. Condolences may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 1669 Myrtle Creek, Oregon 97457.
