Janet R. Fritz, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at home with family by her side. She was born February 18, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to parents D. Murray and Albia Robertson. Janet graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids in 1945, and studied at University of Northern Iowa for two years. She married Lyall Taylor in 1948 and they had three children. She, Lyall, and their children enjoyed many vacations exploring the western United States in the family station wagon.
In May of 1976, after Janet and Lyall had parted ways, Janet married Edward Fritz in Wilmington, Delaware. Janet and Ed spent 27 years together living life to its fullest. They were active in the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington, Delaware, and spent many hours volunteering. Janet particularly loved volunteering with a local social service group named Adopt-A-Family' and was active in the group for nearly 25 years. Janet also enjoyed golfing, traveling, music - especially singing, and social activities with her many friends.
In 2005 Janet moved to Roseburg, Oregon to be closer to family. Janet continued golfing and volunteering, and spent many years helping with the FISH food pantry. She was active in the Umpqua Unitarian Universalist Church in Roseburg, and enjoyed singing in the choir. After Janet moved to Riverview Terrace retirement home, she remained busy with many activities and loved to help organize sing-a-longs with the residents. Janet was kind and generous, and believed each day was a gift. Her positive outlook and sincere warmth was felt by all she met. During her short battle with cancer, her beautiful spirit remained. She will be greatly missed.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward Fritz; son Douglas Taylor; and sister Anne Franklin. She is survived by her son David Taylor of Sonora, CA; daughter Barbara Taylor and husband Kermit Reich of Roseburg, OR; stepson John Fritz of Richmond, VA; stepdaughter Lorrie Fritz of Takoma Park, MD; grandson Matthew Taylor and wife Tracey of Baker City, OR; grandson Brooke Taylor and partner Kris Brissette of Sutherlin, OR; granddaughter Jade Sonressa Campbell of Roseburg, OR; great-grandchildren Erin Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Theryon Taylor, Isabella Taylor, and Tami Taylor; nephew Bill Bogue of Seattle, WA; and special friend Ed Davidson of Roseburg, OR.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, at 11 am, at the Umpqua Unitarian Universalist Church, 2167 NW Watters Street, Roseburg, Oregon 97471.
