Age 84, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014. She was born September 8, 1930, in Avalon, Missouri, to parents Elmer and May Powell. Jennie lived for a number of years in western Colorado, and Nebraska, and graduated high school from Roseland, Nebraska, where she met her husband of 65 years, Marvin DeVoogd, Sr. They were married on June 19, 1949, and moved to Oregon in the early 1950s. Jennie loved the Lord and always wanted to be in church while she was still able. She liked to camp, fish and hunt with her family, liked to bake and sew, and mostly enjoyed being with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and was loved by many. She worked for a number of years for Umpqua Community College, and was a long-time member of the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys. She is survived by her sons, Marvin DeVoogd Jr. of Camas Valley, Oregon, Russel DeVoogd Sr. of Glide, Oregon; daughter Jennie Marvene Ramer of Amity, Oregon; Cris Carpenter; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, 1 p.m. at the Red Barn Renewed Ministry, 4550 Old Hwy 99S.
