Jessie Glass (Hazzard) Glass

January 8, 1932 — October 16, 2015

Jessie Isabel (Hazzard) Glass 83, of Winchester, OR passed away on October 16, 2015 at home, surrounded by family. Jessie was born at her Grandmother Proebstel's ranch in Stark, Montana, during a blizzard on January 8, 1932 to Howard E. Hazzard and T. Frances (Proebstel) Hazzard.

She graduated from North Bend High School in 1950.

Jessie married Kenneth R. Glass on September 14, 1951 in Coquille, OR. Together they successfully owned and operated multiple dry cleaning stores in Roseburg, Eugene, Medford and Salem. They just celebrated their 59th year in business of their Roseburg dry cleaning store. She also obtained and held a real estate broker license.

Jessie was past President of Umpqua Lady Lions Club, 1st elected female President of Oregon Dry Cleaners Association, and Secretary Treasurer of Oregon Dry Cleaner's Association for over 20 years.

Her family and friends were very important to her. Many memories were made at the family cabin at Tenmile Lake, in Eastern Oregon deer hunting, and she enjoyed traveling to Reno with family and friends. Jessie especially enjoyed watching and caring for the many birds, squirrels and deer in her own yard and sharing that with her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Glass, daughters Margo (Greg) Thomason, Molly Acree, Mary Glass and son Paul Weddell. Grandchildren: Carrie (Ray) Sedano, Marissa Glass-Morgan, Megan (Josh) Hibler, Alex (Shannon) Acree, Elliot (Jordan) Acree, Ethan Acree, David (Erin) Thomason, Richey Thomason, Bill Acree, Mike (Carri) Acree, Jeremy Acree, Travis Moe and Skyler (Kristi) Moe. 16 great grandchildren. Sisters Barbara Heins, Mary (Bill) Marquess, Charlene (Terry) Stahel and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jessie is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Frances Hazzard. In-laws Walter and Velora Glass. Sisters Donna (Hazzard) Peterson, Beverly (Hazzard) Hansen, brothers in law Walter Max Glass Jr, Leroy "Bud" Glass, Butch Heins and Dennis Hansen.

A special thank you, to Tom Gerow for his knowledgeable and compassionate input, Dr Joel Lee and his caring staff and to Mercy Hospice for their end of life services, especially Linda Shobe, Shannon Darland, Dianna Dunning, Keith Cyphert, Tim Skelly, Candice Voynick and Jackie Jacobs. It was them and the remaining hospice team that allowed us to fulfill our mother's wish to remain comfortably at home until her death.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Wildlife Safari Aviary Walkthrough in Jessie's name.
