Jessie Lucille Massier of Roseburg, Oregon passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the age of 90. Born on September 12, 1920 and raised in Ellis, Kansas, Jessie was the daughter of William E. and Florence E. Caskey.
She was united in marriage to Conrad E. Massier on June 22, 1941 in San Louis Obispo, California, where he was stationed in the Army. After his military service, Jessie and Con lived in Kansas until their move to California in 1951. In 1965 they moved to Roseburg where Con preceded her in death in 1968.
Besides her family, one of Jessie's proudest accomplishments was obtaining her Licensed Practical Nurse degree through Umpqua Community College. Until her retirement, Jessie worked as an LPN at the Roseburg V.A. Medical Center. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Jessie is survived by her children, Joellen Barber of Roseburg; William Conrad Massier, and wife Norma, of Corvallis, Oregon; and Suzanne Woodman and husband John, of Roseburg. Jessie was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Connie Doolittle and husband Daren, Wes Barber; DeAnn Dalgliesh, Amie Massier, Cathleen Massier-Kersting and husband Mike, and John Woodman III, and 8 great-grandchildren: Austin and Braden Doolittle; Kahlie, Dawson and Cooper Barber; Jhanea Massier; and Devon and Jack Kersting.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, grandson Kyle Barber, son-in-law John Barber, brother Robert Caskey and sister Florence Morris. A memorial service will be held at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2011.
