JoAnne (Moore) Edwards, a 31 year resident of Myrtle Creek, went to be with the Lord the 17th of January at OHSU in Portland, Oregon. She suffered heart failure.
JoAnne was born Sept 5th, 1936 in Scott, Arkansas to Elbert and Arvie Moore. She attended Tillar High School in Tillar, Arkansas.
JoAnne married Olen Edwards June 27, 1955 in Greenville, Mississippi. (Olen had left Arkansas at age 15 and was working in Oregon.) He kept in contact with JoAnne and at age 20 he went back to Arkansas to ask JoAnne to marry him. JoAnne and Olen moved to Oregon in 1955 and began raising a family. They have been married for almost 60 years.
JoAnne was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Myrtle Creek. She loved cooking, canning and especially loved growing flowers in her flower garden. JoAnne had promised her granddaughter Amy and her great granddaughter Lily to help them with their flower gardens this Spring. All her friends and family were given plants and seeds to grow. We all have flowers in our gardens that came from mom.
JoAnne liked to use her collection of cups and saucers for the Mother's Day tea at church. There are many dear friends that she met through church who will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her husband Olen Edwards; her 92 year old sister Ruth Brazil of Arkansas; sister in law, Sue Moore of Reedsport and sister in law Beatrice Moore of Gardner; daughter Sherry Wilkins and husband Fred, daughter Jeanne Taylor and husband Scott, daughter Teresa Vogelpohl and husband Roger, daughter Melody Boyd and husband Mark and son Mark Edwards and wife Melissa; grandchildren Jessica Wilkins, Leah Wilkins, Ben Wilkins, Amy Taylor, David Taylor, Jamie Gober, Emily Pope, Angela Little, Ashley Vogelpohl, Ryan Boyd; great grandchildren Zoie Wilkins, Alexandra Wilkins, Kailey Gober, Christopher Tucker, Ameerah Gober, Lily Wilkins and Quincy Pope and great great grandson Leo Wilkins.
