Passed away at Mercy Medical Center on September 8, 2014 at the age of 93. Bud was born to John and Eva Richards on February 2, 1921. He graduated from Lookingglass High School in 1939. He married Nellie Rose Melton on December 18, 1941, and they enjoyed 73 years of marriage. Bud is survived by his wife Nellie Rose and four Children and (spouses). Diana Weekly (Bert), Tom Richards (Rochelle), Marty Richards (Laurie) and Linda Peterson. Bud had nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren and his sister Ruth Cramer.
After graduating from high school, he worked in the logging industry until 1942 when he enlisted and served in the Army Air Corps. After an honorable discharge, he started work at the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA). Bud worked there for 38 Years, eventually becoming the District Warden for the DFPA. After retiring from the DFPA in 1983, he enjoyed being with his family, traveling, square dancing, and ranching (one of his greatest passions throughout his life). Bud never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with his many friends.
There will be a viewing at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a Catholic Mass on Friday, September 12, 2014 at St Joseph's Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. Following the Mass a celebration of life will be held at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses at 3:00p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Casa de Belen.
