John Forrest Hunter

August 10, 1926 — January 9, 2012

JOHN FORREST HUNTER was born August 10, 1926 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Paul and Lola Hunter. He passed away early Monday, January 9, 2012 at the age of 84 when he lost his long battle with Alzheimer's. John served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WW II. He moved to Oregon in 1948 where he worked in the lumber industry and spent the last 64 years of his life. John spent his time with family and friends riding his yellow odyssey "Killer" on the sand dunes, telling jokes and playing golf, rain or shine. In his lifetime John achieved 4 holes in one and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of golf with all of his grandchildren. His twinkling blue eyes would always hold a small amount of mischief as he told jokes and shared stories and his deep voice was always full of laughter. John is survived by his beloved wife Darlene Hunter; two daughters Reva Hunter and Vicky Davis; son-in-law David Davis; grandchildren Keith Cramer and his wife Christy, Ashley Davis and Amber Roberts and her husband Pastel; great grandchildren Breanna Wright, Sierra Cramer, Elijah Cramer and Preston Roberts as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date. Private cremation rites have been held. Private inurnment was held within the grounds of the Roseburg National Cemetery.
