John Mejorado "Johnny" Soto

September 28, 1954 — September 9, 2013

John (Johnny) Mejorado Soto
Passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, September 9, 2013, after losing his battle with lung cancer. Johnny was born on September 28, 1954, in Croswell, Michigan, to Adelberto and Virginia Soto. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he grew up.
In 1973 he joined Timaberlake Job Corps and moved to Estacada, Oregon, where he learned the plastering trade. While in Portland on leave he met his future wife, Teresa Crosby. October 26, 1974 Johnny and Teresa were married in Tucson, Arizona, where they lived several years before moving permanently to Oregon. They have three daughters: Nicole, Olivia, and Juanita; eight grandchildren: Gabriella, Korban, Oliver, Lucas, Chiquita, KJ, Lain and Tyler.
1979 Johnny joined the Plasterer's Local #82 Union out of Portland and stayed with them for 32 years. He was very proud of his trade and his union. 1998 be became a plastering instructor for Wolf Creek Job Corps in Glide, Oregon. He retired from the union November, 2011.
Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and playing the guitar. He loved gathering at Diamond Lake Resort in a cabin enjoying the snow and family. In recent years he lived in Klamath Falls and so loved the winters and driving over the snow and ice to travel to see family. Eventually he moved back to Roseburg to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. In recent years he volunteered with the Saving Grace Thrift Store and Animal Shelter, and the Restore Appliance Store for the boy's ranch.
Johnny is survived by all three daughters and eight grandchildren; son-in-laws: Michael Ashenfelter; Juan LeDezma; along with his brothers: Albert; Rudy; Richard; Xavier; Gilbert; Manny; Ismael; Carlos; and sisters: Elizabeth and Christina.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Roses, on Harvard Ave., Roseburg, followed by a journey over the Old Wagon Road into Dora where he will be buried in a family plot at the Dora Cemetery. Our great appreciation goes out to Roseburg Amedisys Hospice for all they did for Johnny and his family.
