John Neale Scott passed away on October 19, 2009 at the age of 74. John was born June 10, 1935 in Wamego, Kansas to Charles Walter and Elva Janetta (Rose) Scott. As a child, he moved with his family to Washington. They lived in Ashford before they settled in Glenoma. John graduated from Randle High School. He went to work for US Plywood and served in the U.S. Army. He married Edna Mae Young December 8, 1956 at Fort Lewis Washington. After John's service they moved to Roseburg where he worked again for US Plywood which later became Champion Wood Products then International Paper. John retired as a supervisor in 1990. John and Edna had two daughters, Brenda and Bonnie. Bonnie died in 1975 in a car accident. After retirement John volunteered at Roseburg Veteran's Hospital for many years. He was an active member in the Independent Order of Foresters since 1964. He was also a member of the Roseburg Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Philetarian Lodge #8. John enjoyed traveling, playing his guitar, hunting, woodworking, and living in the country. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, other family and friends. John is survived by his wife Edna of Sutherlin; daughter Brenda and husband Mike Broadsword of Eugene; granddaughter Kristin and husband Cory Carey of Gilbert, Arizona; grandsons Kevin Broadsword of Beaverton, and Ryan Broadsword of Eugene; sister Helen Scott of Eugene, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie Scott; his parents; brothers Bob, Dale, Clyde, Dean and Rex; and sisters Marilyn Scott, Eunice Smith, and Ruby Temple. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, 965 W. Harvard Blvd, Roseburg, Oregon at 12 noon followed by a graveside service at Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Location of a reception after the services will be announced. There will also be a time to pay personal respects from 9 to 5 Friday, October 23, at Chapel of the Rose
