Mr. Joseph "Joey" Herdman
Age 71, of Sutherlin, Oregon, passed away at Mercy Medical Center from pneumonia complications on Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born on December 12, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio, to Joseph and Ruth Herdman. Joe graduated in 1960 from Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, and earned his Bachelors Degree at Youngstown State University. He worked as an accountant and general manager at Ingram Book Distributors for 15 years before he retired. Joe was an avid reader, he loved camping and crabbing, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and he loved watching football. He was an extraordinary man with a great sense of humor. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He was an inspiration to us all and will never be forgotten. Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lorraine; children, Debbie (Ron) Langdon, Kim (Doug) Grauer; sisters, Pattie (Bob) George, Mary Joe Herdman; brothers, Michael Herdman, James (Missy) Herdman, Tim (Karen) Herdman; grandchildren, Shane and Riley Van Horn, Justin Langdon, Sydney and Sammy Nash. Joe is preceded by his son, Brian Herdman and his brother Bruce (Connie) Herdman. A Visitation will be held at Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses on Monday, January 13, 2014, from 4-6 p.m. Mass will be held at St Frances Xavier Catholic Church on Tuesday January 14, 2014, at 9a.m. followed by a celebration of his life at the Umpqua Valley Arts Building in Roseburg at 11a.m. All are invited to attend.
