Juanita L. McClain, age 92, of Roseburg, Oregon went home to be with the Lord on March
21st , 2023, surrounded by her loving children and her pastor. Juanita was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on March 3rd, 1931, to Roy and Ethel (Adams) Mooney. Juanita is survived by her three children: Michael McClain, Kathy McLaughlin and Charles (Pam) McClain. Six grandchildren: Ryan Anderson, Megan (Mitchell) Hodges, Brittany (Sam) Nogales, Bianca (David) Sweet, Bridgette (Mike) Meyers and Donald (Kara) McLaughlin Jr. 16 great- grandchildren: Daisy, Marcus, Benjamin, Hailey, Ella, Abby, Samantha, London, Avery, Logan, Stephen,, Zoe, Scarlett, Madyson, Kadon and Steve. Four great- great- grandchildren: Olyver, Aubrey, Quinn and Annabelle. As well as several nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Milford McClain, brother: Pete Woods, sister: Vivian Coombe, granddaughter: Sara Anderson Lancaster, and son-in-law Donald McLaughlin Sr.
During her high school years Juanita loved playing basketball which led her to achieve a scholarship, as well as graduating at the top of her class. After Milford’s service in the Marine Corps he asked Juanita out on a date and the rest in history. They got married and moved to Brownsville, Winston and finally settling in Roseburg, Oregon to create their lives and start their family.
Juanita worked for many years at the JC Penney store In downtown Roseburg In the shoe department, and then had the opportunity to work in the office. After retiring from Penney’s in 1975 her grandchildren became her passion. She also spent time volunteering as a Pink Lady at the local hospital, worked with the 2’s and 3’s in Awanas. She was involved in her church where for many years she sat next to some of her best friends every Sunday. Juanita was also involved in the Women’s Bible study.
Juanita had many hobbies and interests: she loved projects (especially helping her dad…
One time built a house with him), she sewed clothes for herself and family including doll clothes, knitting, crocheting, she and her long-time friend Diane made many ceramic pieces and even many beautiful porcelain dolls.
But most of all Juanita was passionate about her family, always cooking big dinners and she was the best wife and Mother anyone could ever ask for. And now she is home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
