Julia Ursel Shrimplin

Julia Ursel Shrimplin, mother, grandmother & great grandmother passed away from age related illnesses July 11, 2012. Her stubbornness, humor & her generosity will be remembered as our grandmamma, your friend and my mama. She was unique, one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Julia was born April 9, 1923 in Berlin, Germany. She grew up with her four brothers Hans, Kurt, Erich & Walter during a time of turbulence in pre WWII Germany. Her father was a brick mason, and the family lived apartment life in Berlin. She was a mischievous child, always in trouble. She was a frail child, pampered by her family. She began her ballet training at an early age which later she became a professional dancer. She married at age 18, Joseph Burchardt and had two children. Her husband was killed during WWII. She was put into a concentration camp for her political views. The city was in chaos, her family separated &the allies taking over Berlin. She survived, to later immigrate to the USA. Julia married Earl Shrimplin in 1952 in Los Angeles California and they made their home in Anchorage, Alaska. Later daughter Yvonne was born in 1954. In 1969 the family moved to Roseburg. Julia was preceded in death by her husband Earl Shrimplinin 1975 and grandson Nicholas Martin in 2011. She is survived by her daughter Yvonne and husband Larry, grandson Erick and wife Megan & great granddaughters Kayleen&Kassandra. Services will be held July 21, 2:00 PM at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses on Harvard in Roseburg. A viewing will be scheduled for 10 AM prior to the services.
