June Elizabeth (Goetz) Walls was born on February 29, 1924, in Roseburg, Oregon, to William and Meta Goetz, the youngest of six children and the only child of that family born in a hospital. She grew up in the Flint Street area and attended Roseburg schools, graduating from Roseburg Senior High School in 1942. On July 2, 1948, she was united in marriage with Charles R. (Ron) Walls in Roseburg. They had one daughter, Shelley Walls Campbell, currently serving with the US Air Force Nurse Corps. Ron passed away in 2004. June was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and frequently attended services in Sutherlin, Oregon, where her sister played the organ. She was active in the Douglas County Historical Society, An avid doll collector, June traveled throughout the state in pursuit of this hobby, achieving great knowledge of various collector-value European dolls. For a number of years June and her sister, Vera Wilson, worked as estate sale agents throughout the local area and as far away as Portland, using their keen eye for value and salability to help many families in a time of need. June also enjoyed travel both in the US and foreign lands. In 1979 she and Ron took an extended trip to Europe and then in 1999 she participated in a doll tour of France. She is also remembered for her great skill as a baker, especially Christmas goodies. Her candy cane cookies were unmatched! A victim of Alzheimer's disease, June passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in Roseburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Walls; parents, William and Meta Goetz; sisters, Rose Noyer, Pearl Kaine, Goldie Hebard; and brother, Bud Goetz. She is survived by: her daughter, Major Shelley Campbell, USAF, and son-in-law, Chaplain, Lt Col Mark Campbell, USAF, both of Washington DC; grandchildren, Evan Campbell and wife, Cori, and great-grandson, Brody, of Sherwood Oregon; Paige Krauss and husband, Captain Brad Krauss, USA, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Emily Godwin and husband, Ivan, of Tualatin, Oregon; and Brooke Campbell of Abilene, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Vera Wilson, of Roseburg, and a number of nieces and nephews, including, Judy Davis of Seattle, Washington, and John Hebard and wife, Yoon, of Sutherlin. The family expresses deepest thanks to Dr. Gerald Jaworski, the staff of the Amedysis Hospice, and the staff of Manor House where June lived for the past two and a half years. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Roseburg Memorial Gardens, with her son-in-law, Chaplain, Mark Campbell officiating.
