Larry Elmer Howe

Age 77, Larry passed away at his home in Sutherlin, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. He was born December 3, 1939, in Mill City, Oregon, to George Warren and Wanda Arlene Goodwin-Howe.

He moved with his family to Roseburg in 1950, where he attended Roseburg schools.

Larry married Virginia Wheeler and they had four children. He was briefly employed by the US Forest Service and worked in San Jose, CA, a few years before they returned to Roseburg. He operated a forklift in "plywood" at Roseburg Lumber Company until he retired.

In 1991, Larry married Dee Sorenson. They enjoyed 23 years together until her death in 2014. Larry and Dee enjoyed many happy miles together on his Honda motorcycle, in their Cessna 144 airplane and their F-250 Ford pulling a trailer across America.

Larry was an accomplished woodworker, enjoyed his show-place flower gardens, and fishing and hunting. Larry and Dee were avid square dancers and he enjoyed doing maintenance around Buckaroo Barn, in Winchester.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Dee; his father and mother; his sister, Wilma May Phillips; son-in-law, Ken Ward.

He is survived by daughters, Dani Howe and Randi Ward; sons, Larry Jr. (Donna) and Kenny (Lara); six grand-children; and five great-grandchildren; step-children, Susan Johnson (Rick) and Daniel Sorenson (Wendie); brother, Charles (Mary); and brother-in-law, Reuel Phillips.
