Laurel Rene Hanna, age 72 a long-time resident of Douglas County, passed away on Saturday, April 2nd, 2011. Born in Sacramento, California on March 27, 1939, to James and Frances Haskett, her favorite pastimes included crocheting, gardening, playing on the computer and reading. Laurel loved spending time with her many grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching them about crochet, crafting, and life-in-general; but her favorite activity with them was playing games in the pool. Laurel is survived by her loving husband, Jack Hanna, her son, Monte Peeler, her daughters Penny Anderson, Kathy Sulffridge, and Amanda Carwithen, as well as siblings, two loving sons-in-law, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial and celebration of her life will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 9th, 2011 at New Hope Fellowship, 764 East Central Avenue in Sutherlin, Oregon. Sutherlin Chapel of the roses was in charge of the arrangement.
