Leila Gene Calkins

Leila Gene Calkins passed from this life on October 30, 2009. Jean, as she was know to friends and family, was born on December 10, 1926 in Olustee, Oklahoma, but lived the majority of her life in Roseburg. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Jack Calkins. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed Christian music, painting, sewing and crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her daughter and Son in law Sharon Jo and Dr. John Morris, two sons and their wives, Tal and Jan Calkins, Gary and Katie Calkins, grandchildren Jon Calkins, Eric Calkins, Chris Morris, Bryan Adams,Kim Watson, Sara Berrier, Kyle Calkins, Jeni Page, Julie Calkins, 9 great-grandchildren, a sister, Keta Butzer and Brother Denton Talbert. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Callahan Court for the loving care she received during her time there. A funeral service will be held at the Garden Valley Church of Christ on November 3rd, 2009 at 1 PM. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements.
