Lena Mae "Grandma" Sweely
Age 82, passed away on November 1, 2010, this also being the day of their 65th wedding anniversary. Lena was born June 6, 1928 in Dyersburg, TN. Shortly after Lena and Allen were united in marriage, they moved to Roseburg, Oregon. Lena worked as a real estate bookkeeper for a number of years, Douglas Community Hospital as a Nurses Aide and Montgomery Ward in the Accounting Department.
Lena is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Allen Sweely; son Larry Sweely, Roseburg; Sisters Annie L. Childress and Betty Whittle, Dyersburg, TN; grandchildren; Lisa Sweely, Steven and Tommy Sweely of Eugene, Oregon; Sarah Sweely, Roseburg; great grandson, Andrew Soper, Eugene, Oregon; 6 Nieces and 4 Nephews. Lena was preceded in death by her Father, Forrest Ferguson; Mother Alta Ferguson; Sister, Louise Ramsey; Brother, Frank Ferguson.
Lena loved her husband, son, grandchildren, great grandson and all of her many very dear friends very much. They were all the love of her life.
Lena and Allen were members of the Westside Christian Church for many years and attended regular Sunday services until recently when they could no longer due so due to health reasons.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Pastor Charlie Jordan will officiate the "Celebration of Life" in memory of Lena.
Everyone is welcome to bring your favorite dish, come and celebrate her life and all the fond and loving memories each and every one of you have of her over the years with the family. The celebration of her life and memories will follow the service at the Westside Christian Church. The family would like to encourage everyone to dress casually and comfortable and enjoy the day with the family and friends.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt "Thank You" to the Staff of the ICU Unit at Mercy Medical Center. The nurses, doctors and staff were so very kind and caring during her last days with us.
Lena will be laid to rest within the Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
