Lillian Marie Taylor

December 24, 1926 — August 1, 2012

Lillian Marie Taylor passed on to be with the Lord on August 1, 2012. Marie, as she was known by friends and family, was born in Roseburg, Oregon on December 24, 1926 to parents Charles and Nelle Vlcek. She graduated from Glide High School and attended Western Oregon College in Monmouth until returning home during World War II to assist her family and serve as a volunteer plane spotter. After the war was over, Marie married returning veteran, Kenneth F. Taylor, and moved to his ranch on Rock Creek Road near Idleyld Park. There, Marie worked hard gardening, canning, baking, performing household and ranch chores and raising their three children. She was known for the wonderful pies she baked - especially the blackberry ones. She was an early member of the North Umpqua (Glide) Garden Club and her love of flowers was evident by her beautiful garden. While she was able, she provided bouquets to the North Umpqua Bible Fellowship Church and to friends who were in need of some cheer. She enjoyed drives in the mountains to observe and identify wildflowers and also loved trips to the Oregon coast.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nelle Vlcek, her husband, Kenneth F. Taylor and her brother, Myron (Bill) Vlcek. Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Sharon Taylor Lacy (Jim); son, Kenneth C. Taylor; daughter Janelle Taylor McCormack (Mike); two grandchildren: Angela Robinson Gein (Rudy) and Kenneth Robinson (Laurel).
An informal memorial service will be held for Marie at the North Umpqua Bible Fellowship Church at 1547 Wild River Drive, Roseburg, Oregon (14 miles east of Roseburg), at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to do so, may make contributions to the North Umpqua Bible Fellowship Church.
