In Loving Memory of Lois Virginia Cox

February 19, 1928 – January 14, 2025

Lois Virginia Cox went home to be with Jesus on January 14, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born on February 19, 1928, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Earnest and Mary Wheeler. Lois was one of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death.

On April 28, 1946, Lois married the love of her life, Leroy R. Cox, in Elwood, Oregon. Together, they shared a devoted and loving marriage until Leroy’s passing in 2004. Lois and Leroy relocated to the Roseburg, Oregon area in 1951, where they ran two service stations, the Golden Eagle and the Enco, south of town.

Lois was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She raised three children: Carla Barron of Portland, Oregon, who preceded her in death in 2007; Virginia (Ginnie) Olson of Roseburg; and Daniel (Dan) Cox, also of Roseburg. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Tammy Hecrow, David Barron, Danny Barron, and Donny Barron, all of the Portland area; and Kim Rott, Bryan Olson, and Brad Olson, all of Roseburg. Lois was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In her younger years, Lois moved with her family to Elwood, Oregon, where she attended high school. She was a stay-at-home mother and bookkeeper for the family business. Later in life, after her children left the household, Lois worked in various roles, including at a loan company, as a baker, and in retail. She also contributed to her community by participating in election counting.

Lois loved gardening, canning, sewing, and cherished her role as a grandmother. A devout Christian, she lived a God-fearing life and was an active member of Vine Street Baptist Church. In her later years, she resided at "The Landing," an assisted living facility, where her warmth and positivity touched the lives of everyone around her.

Her caring and loving nature made her a joy to be around, and she was cherished by all who knew her.

A funeral service to celebrate Lois’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Lookingglass Community Church.

Lois will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
