Lois I. McCormack was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the afternoon of August 5, 2011. Lois was born February 12, 1916 in Wichita, Kansas to Thomas E. and Geneieve (DeVore) Duncan. In 1921, at the age of 5, the family moved to Roseburg, Oregon. Lois grew up on the family farm in the South Deer Creek area and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1933. She later attended business college in Portland and upon completing her course of study, she started working at a Roseburg bank. Lois married Maynard H. McCormack on February 7, 1942. After Maynard graduated from OSU he joined the Army. During the war he and Lois moved about the country spending time in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and Ft. Benning, Georgia. Maynard was eventually sent overseas while Lois remained stateside and gave birth to their only child, Mike. Upon discharge from the Army, Maynard and Lois continued to live in the Roseburg area. In the years that followed, Lois focused on her role as wife, mother and homemaker. After Maynard's death in 1957, Lois worked as a bookkeeper for the Douglas Forest Protective Association for 17 years until she retired in 1978. After retirement Lois traveled extensively through Europe, Australia and many other locations. She also volunteered in Roseburg at Mercy Hospital and Friendly Kitchen. Lois is survived by her son Michael and wife Janelle of Idleyld Park; sister Freda Ewing of Roseburg; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends at Riverview Terrace where she had resided for the past 13 years. A memorial service will be held on August 23, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Riverview Terrace Activity Room.
