LOYA J WEAVER
Our precious Loya Jean Weaver passed peacefully at her home on her 80th birthday with her loving dogs lying beside her.
Loya was born on May 11, 1940, in Astoria Oregon. She graduated from Roseburg High School in 1958. She was a dedicated Navy wife and lived in various places including California, Oregon, Guam, Spain, Japan and Hawaii. She was used to the military life and uprooting her family to start over. Her focus was providing the best life that she could for her daughter, Julie. She worked various jobs in her lifetime in the medical field and later went on disability due to health issues.
Loya had a passion for shopping, fancy shoes, jewelry (especially fashion watches), mixing and matching her outfits, working on projects around the house and she loved her dogs. She always looked nice and loved to be fashionable wearing her bling and fancy jackets. She enjoyed going to her church at New Beginnings and spending time with her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday and her biggest shopping month of the year. Nobody ever went without.
She was close to her classmates whom she ran around with in school. She wore out numerous keyboards as she typed the letters right off of them by emailing them constantly. She loved keeping in touch with her classmates.
Through the years Loya had multiple health issues including vascular disease which was the cause of her leg amputation in 2013. This took a tremendous toll on her life as she was always one to be on the go. She made an effort to wear a prosthetic but it was too difficult for her. Even though this limited her life in so many ways she tried to find her new quality of life the best she knew how. It didn’t stop her from wearing those fancy shoes, even if it was only one. She would make light of her situation and laughed at the email name she came up with; “onepegmama.”
She was strong willed. She went through more medically than most women her age, and she kept fighting. She was so very independent and lived alone until her last breath. That is what she wanted.
Loya was a giver. She loved people and was always willing to give of herself and help others. She loved her family and friends so very much and was there to counsel everyone whenever she was able. She was dedicated to taking care of her loving husband, Nick, prior to his passing in February of 2017. They would have been married 54 years. She endured yet another loss of her son-in-law, Bob Knapp, in December of 2018.
Preceding Loya in death were her father and mother, LB and Ginger Hicks, sister, Joyce Clarenbach and husband William Clarenbach, and nephew, William George Clarenbach and son-in-law Robert Knapp.
She is survived by her daughter and Fiancé, Julie Knapp and Ron Miller, Granddaughter and Fiancé, Nichole Alvarado and Josh Hulst and Nephew and wife, Michael and Carol Clarenbach and great granddaughter, Lily,
The family wishes to thank the very special people in Loya’s life. Thank you to Josie, Linda, Pam, Shaylene and Classmates (you know who you are) for loving Loya. Thank you to the family of Bob Knapp for loving her as your own. Thank you to the Amedysis team and for her nurse, Lori. Thank you to Pastor Randy and Lisa and Pastor Bob for loving both Loya and her husband, Nick and being present during their salvation and baptisms. New Beginnings escorted them both in to the heavenly realm. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Loya can finally walk, dance, laugh, feel pure joy, live forever and spend eternity with her King. Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 25th at New Beginnings Church of God, 518 NE Nash St, Roseburg at 2:00pm.
