Lucile Reed (Leatherwood) Reed

January 15, 1918 — March 23, 2016

Of Roseburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the age of 98, at Riverview Terrace in Roseburg. She was born near Oakland, Oregon, on January 15, 1918, daughter of Fay and Dora Baird Leatherwood, and was educated at Dodge Canyon Grade School and Oakland High School. Lucile was married to her high school sweetheart, Donald H. Reed, in Vancouver, Washington, on October 8, 1936; they spent their entire married life in Roseburg. She was active in Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls activities; later she was employed for many years as a Claims taker for the State Employment Division.

Lucile enjoyed golf, card and travel and was especially fond of the times spent at the coast with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 79 ½ years; children Stephen Reed and his wife Ann of Payson, AZ, daughter Janet Rains O'Neil and son Robert Reed, both of San Carlos, Mexico; grandchildren David Reed and his wife Kristi of Roseburg, Greg Rains and his wife Mary of Keizer, OR, Julie Hughey and her husband Rob of Winchester, OR, Jeff Reed and his wife Nina of San Francisco, CA, Jehnee King and her husband Adam of Portland, and Brook Kramer and her husband Justin of Portland; great-grandchildren McKenzi Reed of Roseburg, Michael Rains of Portland, Eston and Audrey Hughey of Roseburg, Amelia Reed of San Francisco; and great-great-grandchild Rosalie Lucile Rains of Portland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mercy Hospice of Roseburg. A very special thank you is extended to Rebecca of Hospice. A celebration of life will be held at Westside Christian Church on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 2 p.m.
