Lucille R. Sanders

LUCILLE RACHEL SANDERS 99, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 in a local care home. She was born July 24, 1911 in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Huron and Marian Schauffler. The family moved from Nebraska to Oregon in 1936 and eventually settled in the Sutherlin-Roseburg area. Lucille worked for over 30 years at the Sutherlin Senior Center. She also worked at Douglas Community Hospital as a Dietician for many years. Lucille was the oldest and longest member of the North Roseburg Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed knitting and was heard to say that her best accomplishment in life was her children and family. Survivors include her children Leo W. Sanders of Sutherlin, Oregon, Bonnie Weik and her husband John, Vernon E. Sanders and his wife Jeanette and Roger L. Sanders and his wife Lorene all of Roseburg, Oregon; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Ollie Sanders, a daughter-in-law Ruth Sanders and a grandson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2010 at 11:00 am at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the North Roseburg Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Dan Sieker will officiate. Private interment will be within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
