LV Thompson, 86, of Roseburg passed away peacefully on January 29,2024. He was born August 14, 1937 in Gould, Oklahoma to Edd and Bula Thompson, the youngest of seven children. After graduating from high school, he moved to Oregon with relatives looking for jobs. He worked in various lumber mills with his older brothers. In 1957 he joined the Coast Guard as a Yeoman. While on leave visiting his sister he met Charlene Stubbs, the love of his life. They were married August 1, 1960 in Honolulu, Hawaii where he was stationed. They shared 63 years of marriage together. After being discharged in 1961 he returned to Oregon, living in Roseburg, Springfield, and Klamath Falls. He graduated from OTI, now OIT, in 1965 earning an electrical engineering degree. He was hired by IBM in San Jose, California and worked there on computer mainframes for 4 years. He and his young family moved back to Roseburg in 1969 where he was employed as a computer programmer for several businesses. LV was hired by Roseburg Forest Products in 1971 and was employed there for 28 years retiring in 2000. LV was an exceptional man, always optimistic, never complaining, with a quiet spirit so you knew everything would be alright. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, always putting others first. He loved God, reading the Bible, working puzzles, researching genealogy , and loved his family unconditionally. He was a long time member of Hucrest Community Church of God. LV was blessed with seven children who survive him. Teresa Thompson, Roseburg, Todd Thompson (Fawnda), Springfield, Nicki Staggs, Roseburg, Aaron Thompson, (Jodie) Beaverton, Tiffani Ferguson (Mike), Myrtle Creek, Jayci Thompson Hruda, Roseburg, TaiAnn Williams (Charles), Albany. 23 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren, his wife, Charlene Thompson, brother Emory Sr., sister-in-law Hope Stubbs, brother-in-law Jack Stubbs and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Altus and Dallas,and his sisters, Zelia, Myrtle, and Viola. Private graveside services will be held at the VA cemetary.
