MARGARET LUNDIN MARTIN was born in Sea Cliff, Long Island, New York on November 10, 1912. The same year the Titanic sank. She was the first of five children born to her Swedish father Anders Nikles Lundin and Norwegian mother Mathilde Jr. Lundin. As a small girl, her family moved to a farm in New Jersey, then her father bought a car called a “Dort” and moved Margaret, mother, three sisters and baby brother across the US to Pasadena, California, where her father, a carpenter, built two homes. Margaret’s father died when she was about ten years old, so she and siblings were raised by a very special mother. As a girl she accepted Jesus as her Savior attending a special church home with her mother, sisters and brothers. December 1935, Margaret then 23, married Edward George Martin who was nine years her senior and, who worked hard to provide for her as a mechanic and later a carpenter. Her children are Jeannette born in 1940 and Jim born in 1943. Margaret and Edward moved to Oregon in 1965 following Jeannette and her husband and children who had moved to Oregon in early 1964. Margaret and Edward lived on the Umpqua River next to Jeannette and family until Edward passed away in April 1989. After selling her home she moved to Holiday Garden Apartments to the age of 102. She spent a short time in a foster care home, moved to Umpqua Valley Nursing home where she lived until her death at Mercy Medical Center on May 9, 2018, being 105. Margaret was the mother to two children, grandmother to 6, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses. Pastor Bob Rapp will officiate. Interment will follow in the Kellogg Cemetery. Please visit
