Margaret "Peggi" Ann Sutton
Age 62 of Sutherlin- A stoic 2 ½ year battle against cancer ended peacefully at home January 19, 2012. Peggi, born February 16th 1949 to Thomas and Mary "Peg" (Baird) Sutton resided in the Sutherlin area all her life. She valued family and friends above all else. Spending her childhood happily with her older brother, Dennis "Butch" Sutton and many beloved cousins provided a close knit and large extended family. Peggi graduated from SHS in 1967, remaining friends with many, she helped plan class reunions. She enjoyed working at the A&W drive-in before attending Umpqua Community College in 1975 for medical bookkeeping. Peggi left school in 1976 to work full-time front office for a local doctor and never stopped. While doctors retired or moved away, Peggi's diligence, no nonsense approach and intuitive nature propelled her over the years to become a most unique and valuable Medical Office Manager. In 2002, Peggi proudly took the responsibility of Office Manager for Dr. Donald Wonderly in his new practice, Accent on Women's Health. Dr. Wonderly, his wife Brenda, and the staff became Peggi's second family. She was "mom" "boss" and a most valued asset. Peggi, a true team leader, credited her success to this amazing group of individuals she respected and loved very much. She believed family her most valuable asset and spending a lifetime enjoying small town life she formed many happy memories, pride in her Scottish heritage and an active interest in genealogy. Peggi's unwavering attention to detail could be seen in a lifetime of beautiful handmade crafts. Her occasion cards, quilts, and crocheted projects were valued by many recipients over the years. Peggi also enjoyed visits to the Oregon Coast, Pennsylvania and North Carolina enjoying the historic sites and family visits. She and her daughter, Lori (Sutton) Waller enjoyed a great friendship and found humor whenever possible in the life changes aging/illness bring. For many years Lori and the grandkids, Amy Waller and Thomas Praytor lived in San Jose, California. Peggi often drove the 8 hours to visit, braving the freeways to stay close as the kids grew. Closer at home, Peggi took great pleasure in attending and orchestrating family gatherings, encouraging family to remain close. She is survived by her brother Dennis "Butch" Sutton of Sutherlin; daughter Lori Waller and grandson Thomas Praytor, both of Sutherlin and granddaughter Amy Waller of Salem Oregon; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Peggi is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Peg (Baird) Sutton. Memorial services will be held Friday January 27th 2012 at 1 PM at Calapooia Free Methodist Church 333 Church Road in Sutherlin.
