Marian Harriet Gensicke, age 83 of Roseburg, Oregon went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 15, 2012. Marian was born in Osakis, Minnesota to Ole and Julia Vangstad on October 12, 1928. She was raised on a farm as the eighth of thirteen children, and attended grades kindergarten through twelfth grade in a small schoolhouse. She moved to California at age 18. She married Eldon (Don) Gensicke, an officer in the U.S. Air Force. They bought a house in Torrance, California, and started raising a family there. Marian was active in the lives of her children. She volunteered in Little League, worked at her church, and was involved in many of her children's school activities. Marian had brief careers as a preschool teacher and realtor. When Marian's husband Don retired, they moved to Port Orford, OR, and eventually moved to Roseburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Gensicke, and her daughter-in-law, Joy Gensicke. She is survived by her three children, sons Kent Gensicke of Diamond Bar, CA, Kurt Gensicke and wife Kristen, of Yorba Linda, CA, and daughter Kay and husband Gary Staffield of Roseburg, OR; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Josh, Heather, Marc, Ryan, Robin, and Dan. She is also survived by four of her sisters, Sylvia, Muriel, Gloria and Shirley, and a brother, Orville. Marian was a kind, thoughtful, caring, and loving person who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Memorial service is Saturday, May 5th at 11a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 820 W. Kenwood in Roseburg, OR with Pastor Jane Baker officiating. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of the arrangements
