August 31, 1932 — August 24, 2024

Marian Edna Livers, age 91, passed away peacefully August 24, 2024 at her home at Avamere
at Oak Park, in Roseburg, Oregon. Marian was born August 31, 1932 in Glencoe, Minnesota to
parents Dan and Edna Vorlicek. She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1950 and
matriculated to Gustavus Adolphus College, graduating in 1954. She worked in both Glacier and
Yellowstone National Parks in the summers during college and fondly carried those memories
throughout her life. After graduating from Gustavus she taught high school P.E. in Whitefish,
Montana where she met and married her lifelong partner, Jim Livers in 1955 (deceased 2014).
In 1966 they settled in Roseburg and together they raised an active and vibrant family.

Marian was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Roseburg. She was also
active in several civic and charitable organizations including AAUW, PEO, and Church Women
United.

She was an avid reader, lover of poetry and supporter of the library. She loved the outdoors,
enjoying skiing, hiking, camping and gardening. Marian was an innovative cook and early
pioneer of granola. She and Jim traveled to Shobu, Japan in 2000 with the Roseburg Shobu
Sister City organization.

Survivors include John (brother) and Mary Vorlicek of Cornelius, NC; Charles Livers (son) and
Joan Stassel of Anchorage, AK; Nancy Livers (daughter) of Roseburg, OR; Peter Livers (son)
and Karen Finnegan of Medford, OR; Grandchildren: Lauren Livers; Melissa Richardson; and
Karl Berdimurat; Great grandchildren: Hendrix and Rio Richardson; Elvin, Vincent and Aaron
Berdimurat; Nephews and nieces; Paul Vorlicek, Philadelphia, PA; Elizabeth Vorlicek,

Marian’s passion for connection, her outlook on life, and her smile will be deeply missed. It may
have been an enthusiastic endorsement of the latest book she was reading, a piece of poetry
that moved her, or a recipe that she had made, she always had something to share that would
brighten your day.
