Marion Edward Martin

MARION E. MARTIN, age 86, passed away on September 3, 2015. He and his wife and recently moved to Springfield, but were formerly residents of Douglas County. Marion was born on May 18, 1929 in Herman, Nebraska to Howard and Leona Martin. At the age of 18, Marion enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and an officer with the Elks Lodge. Marion enjoyed wood working and fishing in his free time. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Leona. Marion is survived by his wife of 30 years, Violet Martin; daughter, Shannon Anderson; sons, Daniel (Denise) Martin and Patrick Martin; stepdaughters, Linda (Ron) Waltrip, Mary (Dane) Gordon and Cynthia Clewell; sister Karlene Burger; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will take place at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, Friday September 18, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at Roseburg National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
