Marjorie Vilk (Fluck) Vilk

Marjorie "Marge" Fluck Vilk passed away on November 15, 2016 from complications associated with Alzheimer's disease. She was 86.
Marge was born in Hellertown, Pennsylvania on October 30, 1930 to Irene and Charles Fluck. She attended Kutztown State College where she majored in Education and Library Science. Marge worked as an English teacher, medical school librarian, and Roseburg High School's counseling secretary.
In August of 1959, she married Victor J. Vilk whom she met while working in a library in Baltimore that Victor frequented while studying medicine. Parents to four children, they relocated to Roseburg in 1967. Marge was quite active in the community, with participation in the RHS Booster Club, American Field Service, Mercy Auxiliary, Roseburg Community Concert Association, and was recognized as the Roseburg First Citizen in 1984.
Upon retirement in 1985, Marge and Victor spent their time traveling the globe, most notably Austria, Amsterdam, Panama, Alaska, Hawaii, and the United Kingdom where she kissed the Blarney Stone.
Between trips, Marge spent her time painting ceramics, needlepoint, bowling, playing cards, going to movies, doting on her grandchildren, and LOUDLY cheering for the Oregon Ducks (she was a die-hard fan).
Marge is survived by her husband of 57 years, Victor J. Vilk; her children Lisa (Brian) Crain, Andrew Vilk, and Anita (Douglas) Wanner; grandchildren Nicole (David) Hundley, Brittany Gates, Paige Wanner, Joshua Wanner, and Zachary Crain; and great-grandchild Amelia Hundley. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Vilk.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Manor House: Brookdale for their love and support. A private family service was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church and interment of her ashes was held at Roseburg Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 19. A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverview Terrace Retirement Village on Saturday, December 3 from 2 PM to 4 PM. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made for Alzheimer's treatment and research at www.alz.org in Marge's name.
