Marnie Dolores Spry passed away on January 29, 2013 in Roseburg, Oregon. Marnie was born on February 28, 1912 to Jacob and Christine (Diede) Hauser in Manfred, North Dakota. Marnie, the middle of five children, spent her early years in North Dakota. In her teen years the family moved to College Place, Washington where Marnie graduated from Walla Walla Valley Academy.
Marnie worked for a few years, then met her future husband of 57 years Kenneth Spry and they were married in 1937. Shortly after the birth of their daughter Karen, they moved to Renton, Washington. After living in Renton for a few years they moved to Mountain View, California. Marnie and Ken both worked at the Pacific Press Publishing Association. They then moved to St. Helens, California where they lived for 40 years. While living in St. Helens, Marnied worked at the St. Helens Hospital for many years in Physical Therapy and Central Services. After retirement they moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1989 to be closer to family.
Marnie loved to travel. Her trips included Europe, Hawaii, almost every state and a cruise to South America. She also loved to go camping, gardening, reading, sewing, baking, and take care of her home. She remained in her home until shortly before her death. Marnie was a very generous, kind, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family. She will be greatly missed.
Marnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter Karen and her husband Cal Hull of Roseburg, two granddaughters, Teri and her husband Ken Grimes of Roseburg and Kim and her husband Kim Reeves of Coos Bay, Oregon.
Marnie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved her church and the Lord.
A funeral will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Graveside services will follow at Roseburg Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 3ABN television.
