Mary Leigh Amos known as Leigh passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010, in Roseburg, Oregon. She was born in Eugene, Oregon, on March 16, 1927.
She was married to Richard L. Amos and arrived in Ketchikan in 1954 with her family for the start up of the Ketchikan Pulp Mill. She was employed by the J R Heckman Co for many years. She was voted as Mother of the year in 1962 and was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served a two year Mission in Salt Lake City in the genealogy department which was her passion for most of her life. She also enjoyed reading and writing poetry.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Stark of Tacoma, Washington, and sons, Jim Amos of Ketchikan, Alaska; Steve Amos of Roseburg, and Vince Amos of Lynnwood, Washington. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside service and internment will be held at the Bay City Cemetery, Bay City Oregon on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 2 p.m.
