Mary was born to Bill and Marie Darnaby in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was 1 of 6 children: brothers, James Darnaby and Tom Darnaby; sisters, Emma Ryan, Catherine Dwinell, and Neta Blake. She attended grade school at Sts Peter & Paul Catholic grade school and graduated from Cushing High School in 1947.
She met and married Daniel Boswell in Cushing. They had 3 children, daughter Shyrl Cass, son Randy Boswell and son Craig Boswell. They later moved their family to Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado and finally settled in Camarillo, CA.
While raising her children Mary worked as a bookkeeper and a financial manager.
She was a devout Catholic and also volunteered for years at the VA. She loved sewing and creating handcrafted gifts for family and friends. She also loved keeping in touch with her Oklahoma roots by attending family and school reunions in her hometown. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She moved to Riverview Terrace in Roseburg Oregon in April 2014 to be closer to her son, Randy.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dan in 2003, her son, Craig; her brothers; two of her sisters and both of her parents.
Surviving Mary are her son, Randy; daughter, Shyrl; sister, Neta; and granddaughter, Kelly and grandson, Travis, who lived with Mary and Dan; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral
Mass will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2014 at 12:10 pm at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Roseburg. Reception will follow at Brix Gather at 1:00.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Mary's memory to VA Roseburg Health Care System, Voluntary Services, 918 NW Garden Valley Blvd, Roseburg OR 97471.
Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements.
