Mary Kuhn (Deyoe) Kuhn

July 7, 1908 — November 10, 2016

MARY E. KUHN 108, formally of Salem, Oregon passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Riverview Terrace in Roseburg, Oregon. She was born July 7, 1908 in Heppner, Oregon to Henry and Bintha Deyoe. Mary grew up in Dayton, Oregon where she graduated from Dayton High School in 1927. She didn't have any military service but she did knit socks for service men and canned fruit for the Army. Mary worked at the Salem Cannery, Coast to Coast hardware store, was a seamstress for locals and owned and operated a small farm and orchard for many years. She did extensive volunteer work for the food bank, Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star (of which her husband was an honorary member). Mary enjoyed cooking, canning and sewing for her children and grandchildren. She received numerous awards and plaques from presidents. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church in Salem. She moved from Salem to Roseburg in 2011 to be closer to her family. Survivors include her daughter Arlene Allgood; grandsons Doug Allgood and Dennis Allgood all of Roseburg; great grandchildren Heather, triplets David, Richard and Steven, Tyrell, Samantha, Andrew and Justin; numerous great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends in Roseburg and Salem. Mary touched many people in her extensive life. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don Kuhn in 1989; grandson David Allgood in 1981; son Donald Jr. in 1994 and her sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Funeral Home 201 Oak Grove Road NW, in Salem with Reverend Norm Barley officiating. Those who wish may pay their respects on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Restlawn Funeral Home. Private interment will be held in the Hopewell Cemetery, Dayton, Oregon. The family requests that contributions be made in Mary's memory to either the Shriner's or United Methodist Church in Salem. The family would like to thank caregivers of Mercy Hospice and the caregivers and staff at Riverview Terrace.
