MARY ANNE PAULETTO, 90, of Umpqua, Oregon passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her home. She was born Mary Anne Humphrey in Escondido, California, the second of four children to Graham and Elsie Humphrey. Mary Anne attended Escondido schools, graduating from Escondido Union High School in 1945. As a senior she was co-editor of the high school yearbook. She then attended San Diego State University majoring in art with a minor in English. Mary Anne left school to marry Joe B. Pauletto in 1948. Mary Anne had a good childhood and loved her parents. She worked in the office of her father's heating and sheet metal business. Mary Anne made several 30 mile bicycle rides between San Diego and Escondido. She also enjoyed casual tennis matches. Mary Anne also enjoyed participating in her Methodist faith. Early on it was in the Methodist Youth Fellowship summer camps. As an adult, Mary Anne volunteered as a Pink Lady at Palomar Hospital in Escondido. She and Joe were active in the Republican Club and played bridge with several couples in Escondido. In 1965 the family moved to Umpqua, Oregon. They operated a ranch where they raised cattle and fryer chickens. For several years Mary Anne labored in the chicken houses daily. Mary Anne was an excellent cook and found time for baking cookies, bread and cakes for her family. Later in life, Mary Anne returned to her art and took up painting with watercolors. She was a member of the Umpqua Valley Art Association, the Watercolor Society of Oregon, the First United Methodist Church and the Calapooia Club. Survivors include her children Joe (Kathy) Jr., Michael (Cindy), Thomas, Lisa (Bob) Somnitz and Mark (Yvette); six grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers Graham Humphrey of Edmonds, Washington and Thomas (Sue) Humphrey of Vista, California. A Celebration of Mary Anne's Life will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church 1771 W Harvard Avenue, Roseburg, Oregon 97471. Reverend David Thompson will officiate. Private interment was held in the Coles Valley Cemetery next to her husband Joe. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Mary Anne's memory to the Calapooia Community Club Inc., P.O.
