Mary Ellen Perry of Roseburg, Oregon went home to heaven September 8, 2017, at the age of ninety-seven. She was born March 18, 1920, to Roland and Linnie (Bond) Breedlove on their ranch, Cougar Heights, in Roseburg, Oregon. She graduated from Roseburg High School in 1938, and married Harry Collison, Jr. shortly thereafter on October 8, 1938.
She worked at JC Penney, and then later spent several years working for AF Saar, Inc. as a grader, and later as machine operator.
Mary Ellen and her husband, Harry, were Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron for Eastern Star, of which she was a lifetime member. She was also a Royal Matron for Amaranth and Guardian of Bethel 8 Job's Daughters.
After Harry passed away, she married Vere Perry on June 24, 1982. They enjoyed many fishing trips to the Stellako River in British Columbia. They also enjoyed walking all over Roseburg and taking hikes down to Cow Creek Canyon.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; husband, Vere; sister, Iola Mathis; daughter, Cora Lynn Miller; granddaughter, Shana; and her husband, Royce. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Howington; son-in-law, Gary; grandsons, Eric (Cheryl) Howington, Heath (Karen) Howington, Roger Bitner, and Dirk (Darla) Bitner; ten great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and caregivers who were very special to her.
A service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses.
