Mary Margie Storie, age 99, was called home to Heaven, on Thursday, May 12, 2011.
Margie was born in Meridian, Idaho, on December 21, 1911, to Ova and Myrtle Marcum, and grew up on her family farm in Prosser, Washington, along with her 12 brothers and sisters.
In 1927, she married Rolland Storie. Margie lived and worked in Washington for several years in a paper mill and as a waitress, while Rolland served in the Navy during WWII. In 1948, they moved to Roseburg, Oregon, and Margie worked at Western Battery, assembling car batteries, and as a butcher at Drive-In-Save Market, which later became a Safeway.
Margie enjoyed fishing with Roland and traveling with her sisters. Among her many destinations were, Niagara Falls, Alaska, Hawaii, England, and New Zealand.
Margie and her delightful personality and wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include sister, Wanda, "Dub" Madson of Santa Rosa, California; brother, Robert Powell of Milton Freewater, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland; five brothers and five sisters.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Margie's life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Chapel of the Roses, in Roseburg. Pastor, Dave Pagni officiating.
A viewing time is scheduled for 9:00-11:00 a.m. before the Memorial Service, and there will also be a brief time of remembrance and prayer at the gravesite located at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
