Mary Ann Wheland

MARY ANN WHELAND 62, of Roseburg, Oregon went to be with her Risen Lord and Savior on Easter Morning. She died of complications from cancer. Mary Ann was born August 19, 1949 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania to James W. and Charlotte Carelas. She graduated from State College Area High School in 1967. Mary Ann worked as a Dental Assistant from 1968 until 1975 and then became a stay at home mom and part time sheepherder for the family flock and has been co-owner of South Stephens Appliance since 1991. Mary Ann was a member of Sutherlin Family Church. She enjoyed going to Bible Studies and attending her family's functions. Her kids and grandkids were her greatest joy. She went to all of kid's and grandkid's games, parties, school activities, 4-H functions, church programs, plays, recitals and anywhere else she could be to support them in Mimi's Taxi Cab. Survivors include her husband of 41 years John Wheland; daughters Sara Wheland and Becky Henderson and her husband Shawn; grandchildren Cade Meisner, Mcray Henderson, Dalton Henderson and Colton Henderson; brothers Bill Carelas and his wife Pat, Jim Carelas and his wife Rose and John Carelas and his wife Cathy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brother Tony Carelas and her parents James W. and Charlotte Carelas. Memorial services for Mary Ann will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 am at Sutherlin Family Church. Pastor Paul Glazner will officiate. Private interment has been held in the Cleveland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Mary Ann's name to the Community Cancer Center or Sutherlin Family Church.
