Nellie Barbara Jonasson

NELLIE BARBARA JONASSON, 86 of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born April 5, 1929 in Portland, Oregon to Bayard and Gertrude Templeton. She was the sixth of twelve children. Nellie was a graduate of Roseburg High School. She was a member of First Christian Church where she sang in the choir for 60 years and taught Sunday School. Nellie enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning and won numerous blue ribbons at the fair for her baked goods. Nellie is survived by her husband, David Jonasson; her three daughters Loydeen and husband Richard Hagman; Nora Barrett and her companion John Shields; and Denise and her husband Dwane Hawks; her step-daughter Debra; Daughter-in-law Vilma Bailey; her two sisters Doris Demeter and Ada Sly; her brother Donald Templeton and his wife Anita; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Nellie was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church. Pastor Bruce Russell will officiate. Interment will follow within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made to First Christian Church youth program for their Mexico trip fund.
