Nickodemus Ziegler

Age 83, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. He was born on April 17, 1926, in Balmas, Romania, to Peter and Veronica (Jochim) Ziegler. Nick lived in Balmas for 14 years, Hildesheim, West Germany from 1942 - 1957, and Minot, North Dakota, from 1951 - 1965. In 1957, he married Charlotte Ruhland, and they have been resident's of Douglas county for the last 42 years. Nick has had many jobs, working on the railroad for eight years, a carpenter and cement finisher for six years, and work at Champion International of Roseburg for 23 years. He enjoyed creating anything with his hands. Doing everything from rockwork to woodwork to repairing antique tools. Nick was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed barbeques with his family, working in his shop, decorating his yard with all his collectibles, creating countless things from wood, and going to yard sales. Nick is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis Ziegler of Billings, Montana, and numerous relatives at lived in Germany. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte "Lottie" Ziegler; daughters, Barbara Ziegler; Marlies Maze; Veronica Ziegler-Benthien; son, Stephen Ziegler and his wife, MariaPaz; sister, Isabelle Ziegler; brother, Kasper Ziegler and his wife, Helen; sister-in-law, Darlene Ziegler; grandchildren, Joseph Ziegler; Thomas Ziegler; Marybeth Ziegler; Mattison Ziegler-Holman; Kailey Maze; Christopher Maze; Jonathon Correal; Monica Pollock; nieces, Marianne Swain; Stacee Cover; Kimberly Lutz; Karen Weltikol, and nephew, Kasper Lee Ziegler. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a reception to follow. Wilson's chapel of the Roses are in charge of arrangements.
