Oliver Perry Standley; born September 25th, 1926 to Adrain and Vera Standley. Oliver spent his teen age years in Camas Valley, Oregon near his grandparents, Jack and Bertha Parrott. At his age of 17 years he moved to Glide, to work on his father's ranch and he finished his senior year of school at Glide High School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served 2 yers on the USS Vella Gulf, an aircraft carrier. At the end of the war he came home to Camas Valley and lived with his grandparents while he worked in the timber industry for his Uncle Phil Standley. At the age of 20 years he came back to Glide to take over the management of his father's ranch. In 1947 he married Betty Ann Taylor, they stayed on the ranch to raise their four children. In 1985 they sold the ranch and invested in Real Estate, moving several times until they settled on 2 acres in Dixonville area, where his wife still lives. Preceding him in death is his father and mother, 2 brothers Jim and Richard, his daughter Dacia Parish and a grandson Zeek Standley. Surviving Oliver is his wife of 70 years, Ann Standley, his 3 sons, Adrian, Cyrus and Bruce and his wife Wendy. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. At Oliver's request there will be no public service. He will be interned at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
