Our beloved dad and grandpa passed away on August 9, 2012 at the age of 96 at his daughters home in Sutherlin, Oregon. Orval was born on September 10, 1915 in Myrtle Creek, OR. He was born on North Myrtle Rd and still lived on the Ranch until he moved to Sutherlin to be with his daughter. He was the son of E.V. Weaver and Susie McGovern.
He went to school at the Old Jones School House. He walked to school for his first eight years. Then he went to Myrtle Creek High where he graduated in 1932.
He joined the Army in 1941 and served until 1945.
In 1950 Orval married Laura Dodgen and her three children. Together they raised them. Orval was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and great, great-grandpa.
His children were very blessed to have had him. He was loved very much.
He worked in sawmills and retired from Roseburg Lumber. He loved to farm, garden and loved his family very much. He was always happy and always had a smile on his face. Everyone loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, wife and son.
He is survived by his daughter Patty Johnson; and son Harry Dodgen; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren; three nephews; one niece; and many cousins.
The family would like to thank Glenn Hayter for all his visits every Monday and rides he took him on and the comfort he gave him. Grandpa loved him like a son. There will be a graveside service at the Myrtle Creek Cemetery on September 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. Grandpa, we will love and miss you forever.
