Pansy Mae Boyer

February 15, 1928 — March 29, 2018

Pansy Mae Boyer of Sutherlin, Oregon, age 90, died peacefully on March 29, 2018, in Roseburg, Oregon.

Pansy is survived by her sons Mike Boyer (Debbie) of Katy, TX and Randy Boyer (Katie) of Sutherlin, OR; her grandchildren Gary Boyer (Mike) of Portland, OR, Amy Bissonnette (Bo) of Salem, OR and Ashley Panahi (Arash) of Simi Valley, CA; her great-grandchildren Oliver Bissonnette and Austin Panahi; her sisters Veta Cummings and Bertie Sue Alexander of San Antonio, TX; and her nieces Cathy Cummings of Laguna Hills, CA and Karan Ciotti of Houston, TX.

Pansy was preceded in death by her parents Pansy Opal Downing and Albert Loyd Alexander of Abilene, TX and her ex-husband Larence “Tiny” Boyer of Baldwin City, KS.

Pansy was born on February 15, 1928 in Potosi, TX. After marrying Tiny, a Navy Seabee, Pansy and family's home base was Oxnard, CA, but included moves to places like Guam and Kodiak, AK. Pansy spent most of her career working in the accounting department of the Navy Exchange, a retail store at Point Hueneme Naval Base. She retired to Sutherlin, OR where she was an active volunteer in the Lady Lions and the local food pantry and a devoted member of Grace Community Baptist Church. She could always be found in the front row of every sporting event, concert, or award ceremony of the family and friends around her. She enjoyed visits with her “exercise girls” and monthly lunch gatherings with her “birthday girls” and bunco group. She took after her mother, who loved to cook, and was the first one to offer to make a meal that covered the entire table or baked goods to share.

Pansy will be laid to rest with her parents in Potosi, TX. The family would like to thank her neighbors and caregivers who spent time around the clock ensuring Pansy had everything she needed.

Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones shines down to let us know they are happy.
